At St Christopher’s The Hall, preparation for the next stage of education is a thoughtful, gradual process that begins in Year 5.

Our aim is to ensure pupils feel confident, secure, and well supported as they progress through Years 5 and 6. This early preparation is carefully woven into school life and is designed to build skills over time, whilst fully embracing and enjoying the richness of the primary years.

Our pupils benefit from a broad and structured programme that includes Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning (VR and NVR), interview techniques, and an introduction to current affairs, helping them develop critical thinking, communication skills, and self-confidence.

These elements ensure children are exceptionally well prepared for a wide range of senior school pathways, while remaining fully engaged in their learning journey at St Christopher’s until the end of Year 6.

We place great importance on working in close partnership with parents. Through regular conversations, guidance meetings, and dedicated 11+ information evenings, we support families throughout the entire process. These ongoing discussions help parents feel informed, reassured, and confident in making the right choices for their child’s future.

Thanks to our link with the St Dunstan’s Education Group, pupils who meet the required academic standards are offered automatic entry to St Dunstan’s Senior School, providing a seamless and reassuring progression without the need to undertake the 11+ process.

For families considering alternative senior schools, our pupils are comprehensively prepared for a range of entrance requirements. Year after year, St Christopher’s children achieve excellent outcomes, including scholarships to leading independent schools and successful transitions to state secondary education.

Through a combination of early preparation, personalised guidance, academic rigour, and strong home–school partnerships, we ensure every child leaves St Christopher’s at the end of Year 6 confident, capable, and ready to take their next steps.
