St. Dunstan's U10 Rugby Festival

Well done to the team who competed in the U10 rugby festival at St. Dunstan's on Thursday 10 October...

The boys arrived to take part in a battle fest at Jubilee Sports Grounds in top spirits. Our first match kicked off with Hawes Down. A slow start which finished in a 5-2 victory for us. Our next game was against Babbington House who are very new to the game, but l’m sure learnt a lot from their experience on the day. St Christopher’s were the winners; 5-1.

The next game had us up against St Dunstans 2nd Team, they were difficult opponents, but after some break away tries we won 6-0.

Our final group match pitched us up against Colfes. A far closer battle than our previous matches, but we played consistently through the game in both attack and defence to earn our 3-0 win. Mr Knowles from Colfes called one of our tries ‘the best he had seen that day’.

So into the final we went, up against our rivals Bickley Park. We started very slowly and very quickly were down 0-2 in the first 3 mins. A small touch line pep talk made sure we didn’t carry on in the same way!! We pulled it back to 2-2. Drama as we came towards the end of the match.... our backs against the wall, making 4 of the most brutal tackles to stop Bickley from reaching the try line. Unfortunately one of them got away and loped all the way back before approaching our try line on the opposite side.

An absolutely fantastic performance by all the boys. Well done.
