Wraparound Care

SCAMPS

St. Christopher’s has a dedicated space for its wraparound care provision, on the bottom floor of the Old Stable Block, adjacent to the main school building, and aims to provide a “home from home” atmosphere for the children.

SCAMPS (The St. Christopher's Afternoon and Morning Play Scheme) is open from 8am - 8.30am each week day morning and again from 3.15pm – 5pm each weekday afternoon.

SCAMPS is run by experienced and qualified Teaching Assistants working at the school.

In the morning sessions, children can play quietly, for example with Lego or Playdough, or let off steam before lessons with a game of football in the School Hall. In the afternoon sessions, outside play is encouraged, weather permitting, and there are plenty of games and toys available for the children inside. Creative activities take place twice a week and special projects, such as making dolls house furniture, may be undertaken from time to time.  There is also a homework area and children are provided with support and encouragement to complete their homework if they wish to do so.

Food is not provided in the morning session, but, in the afternoon, children are given a drink and a snack on arrival and a light tea is provided at 4.15pm. This is normally a sandwich, a piece of fruit and a snack bar.

At the end of the morning session, children are escorted to their classrooms by members of the SCAMPS staff. In the afternoon, children should be collected directly from SCAMPS, not via the main school building. If parents are delayed in collecting their children, SCAMPS staff will wait with them, but late pick up charges will apply after 5pm.

Children can be booked in to SCAMPS in advance on a regular basis or ad hoc bookings can be made at short notice by contacting the school office.

For the avoidance of doubt, the afternoon sessions are not open to Kindergarten children, unless they are in Upper Kindergarten and have been in school in the afternoon. Children can be escorted to SCAMPS by a member of staff after attending an after school club.

SCAMPS charges are added to the termly fee invoice and current charges for SCAMPS are as follows:

Morning session (8am – 8.30am) £2.50
3.15pm – 3.45pm (or part thereof) £3.50

After School Club

This is a free club provided to children in Years 1 and 2, who have siblings in the Prep School. It runs from 3.15pm to 3.45pm to bridge the different finishing times of the Lower and Prep School. It is run by the Lower School staff in rotation in their classrooms. At 3.45pm, children can either transfer to SCAMPS with their elder sibling(s) or be collected from the side gate dismissal point. Children in Years 1 and 2 who do not have siblings in the Prep School and are not being collected at 3.15pm are taken directly to SCAMPS.
