Preschool

At St Christopher’s Preschool, we believe that every child should have the best start possible to their school lives. Every pupil is nurtured as an individual and their happiness, safety and positive wellbeing is our priority. This is reflected in our bright, airy and engaging classrooms where curiosity and creative thinking are encouraged. Education through activity and play is encouraged and children are given the tools and confidence to help prepare them for school.

Our Preschool comprises three classes of twelve children, each with a teacher and a teaching assistant. Our enthusiastic Preschool staff use their wealth of experience to provide a child-centred, ambitious curriculum covering all the seven areas of learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. These are:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

The happy, vibrant atmosphere is tangible throughout and pupils take advantage of our wonderful specialist teaching in PE, Music and Drama meaning that Preschool life is always busy with an exciting breadth of opportunities for the children to explore.
