Inspection Reports

We are delighted to share the exceptional outcome of our most recent inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), who visited St Christopher’s The Hall in March 2025. The ISI’s framework is among the most rigorous in the country, examining far more than academic outcomes alone. It looks at the whole educational experience—leadership, teaching, personal development, pastoral care, and the core values that shape daily life in our school. In their report, the inspectors offered glowing praise for our school—and made a judgement that is both rare and deeply significant.

Awarded a Significant Strength: A Rare and Prestigious Honour

We are immensely proud that ISI awarded St Christopher’s a Significant Strength in the area of leadership of teaching and learning, and in the continuous improvement of the quality of education. This is not a routine commendation. In fact, a Significant Strength is the highest form of recognition the ISI can giveawarded only in exceptional cases where an area of school practice is not just outstanding, but is consistently innovative, sustained over time, and has a profound impact on every pupil. To be granted this accolade is an extraordinary endorsement of the way we lead learning at St Christopher’s: with clarity, creativity, ambition, and a constant drive to improve. It affirms that our teaching is not just effective—it is inspirational, strategic, and transformative.

What Else the Inspectors Saw

  • A rich and ambitious curriculum complemented by a vibrant co-curricular programme
  • A deep culture of inclusion, where each child is known, valued, and empowered
  • Pupils who are confident, articulate, curious, and clearly thriving
  • A genuine sense of community, with strong relationships across year groups
  • Staff who bring warmth, rigour, and care to all that they do

A Single Recommendation: Looking Forward with Purpose

Another rare feature of this inspection was that the inspectors made just one formal recommendation—an unusual occurrence under the ISI framework. Their suggestion? To continue developing opportunities for pupils, when ready, to take greater independence in applying their learning across the curriculum. We welcome this as a natural next step, and one that builds on the excellent foundations already in place. This work is already in motion—with staff embracing new strategies to equip our children not just to succeed, but to take charge of their learning, make thoughtful choices, and flourish as independent thinkers.

A School That Leads with Purpose and Care

This report is more than a moment of celebration—it is a clear reflection of what defines St Christopher’s The Hall: A place where excellence is expected, individuality is celebrated, and every child is inspired to aim high and thrive.
