Year 4 do it again in the Bromley Schools Sumdog Competition...
The Year 4s entered a third Sumdog Competition at the end of April and, despite not all children participating, we were placed in first (4A) and second place (4B). An amazing achievement!
St Christopher’s had 5 children in the top 10 students. First was Lauren Griffin with an outstanding 995 correct answers out of 1000, Mila Poulton 2nd (990), Melody Lindsey 4th (954), Sofiya Biabiany 6th (911) and Mabel Rose 8th (850).
Following our recent successes and the enthusiasm shown by the children, the Sumdog Programme will be introduced to the whole of the Prep School with the intention of entering the Maths Week London Sumdog Competition in June.
Prompted by the enthusiasm shown in Sumdog, 3P and Year 4 took part in a World Maths Day competition run by Mathletics on Wednesday. The children could decide whether to pit themselves against other children across the globe or stick to challenging their colleagues. Over 9,000 schools from 127 countries took part. Across the 3 classes, 35 children competed on a global level, playing up to 20 games. The top 3 children were Zachary McMordie (3091 in the country, 17,445 in the world), closely followed by his brother Otis McMordie and third Mila Poulton. Overall we were placed 1910 in the world!!! Thank you to Mr Jacob for helping in setting the competition up.
Looking forward to some further competitive enthusiasm for Maths.
Well done everyone!
