The U9 football team win the Alleyn's Five-a -side Football Tournament.
In the space of two weeks, both the U9 and U10 football teams have both won their respective age-group in the Alleyn's football tournament.
This year, the tournament followed a 'round robin' structure, resulting in the U9 team playing six other schools on a league basis. In the first game, they fought hard to record a 1-0 victory over Honeywell School. This was followed by an equally hard fought victory over Dulwich Hamlet by 3 - 2. The third round matched St. Christopher's against last year's champions, Rosendale School. St Christopher's took an early lead but with only 5 minutes to play, found themselves in deficit. A late equaliser meant that the boys kept their unbeaten record 'til the next round. Blackheath were the 4th round victims. St. Christopher's expansive play proved too much for the opponents, resulting in a convincing 4-1 victory. The 5th round proved to be a football feast with St. Christopher's chasing local school, Heber, by 8 - 0. With Alleyn's being the last challenge in the final round, only a victory would guarantee the cup! Nerves appeared to get the better of our boys initially and whilst the greater possession was in the St. Christopher's camp, Alleyn's actually had the best chances. However, following a strike early in the 2nd half, St. Christopher's continued to dominate and finished on a high with a 2-0 victory. Just like the U10s a week earlier, the Alleyn's cup was coming hme to Beckenham.
Well done to the team, which included the following players: Paul White, Felix Ellis, Reggie Watson (Ct), Ollie Rollinson, Ces Bibby, Ben Junginger, Jack Wormald and Sam Granger. Also a big thanks to the travelling supporters. Fabulous work boys!
