On Wednesday 20th March the Year 4s embarked on their residential trip to Grosvenor Hall. En route we stopped off at Penshurst Place. The children were entertained by an excellent group of actors who made life in the Tudor and Elizabethan times come to life. The children were even lucky enough to come face to face with royalty in the shape of Queen Elizabeth I. After a lunch break, a play on the adventure playground and the obligatory trip to the gift shop we were on our way.
At Grosvenor Hall, a quick site tour was followed by bed making and our first activity before dinner. A relaxing film night rounded off the day and 35 very tired children ( and 4 equally as tired adults!) retired to bed.
The second day was very busy. 7 actvities including, bushcraft, obstacle course, 3G swing, climbing, fencing, laser and problem solving culminating in a rousing campfire. Hot chocolate before bedtime had the desired effect and soon the children were sound asleep!
A good night’s sleep was had by all,( including the teachers ) and many had to be woken for breakfast on Friday morning. Two further activities before lunch and then home time. Finally at 2.35 pm the children were reunited with their parents and went home for a well deserved rest after all the excitement.
Thank you especially to Mrs Watford and Mrs Sloper for giving up their time to help Miss Arnott and Mr Bermingham on the trip.
